Superintendent – Heavy Civil Construction
Remote, Alaska (field-based project sites)
$150,000 – $250,000 DOE + excellent benefits!

A respected leader in heavy civil construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Construction Superintendent to oversee field operations on large-scale infrastructure and site development projects. This company's portfolio spans highways, bridges, utilities, site development, and other complex civil works — built on a foundation of innovation, integrity, and teamwork.

The ideal candidate is a decisive, safety-driven field leader who can manage multiple crews and subcontractors while maintaining the highest standards of quality, schedule, and accountability.

Your day-to-day:
Project Leadership & Execution — The Superintendent is the primary on-site leader for all field operations. This includes planning and coordinating construction activities in collaboration with the Project Manager and Engineers, directing all phases of heavy civil work (earthwork, grading, utilities, concrete, paving), and maintaining project schedules to meet key milestones. The role manages manpower, equipment, materials, and subcontractors to optimize productivity, assists with monthly cost-to-complete and revenue forecasts, and ensures materials are on-site and on schedule to prevent delays.

Team & Subcontractor Management — The Superintendent supervises and mentors field crews, engineers, support staff, and subcontractors — fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork. This includes conducting daily briefings and weekly coordination meetings, and monitoring subcontractor performance against quality standards, timelines, and contractual obligations.

Safety & Compliance — Enforcing OSHA/MSHA regulations, conducting regular safety inspections, hazard assessments, and toolbox talks, and promptly documenting and addressing any safety incidents or concerns.

Quality Control & Documentation — Reviewing plans, specifications, shop drawings, and subcontract requirements to ensure accurate execution; monitoring workmanship and materials; and maintaining thorough daily logs documenting production, delays, conflicts, safety compliance, and stakeholder interactions.

We're looking for:
  • 7–10 years of progressive heavy civil construction experience, with at least 3 years in a superintendent or senior foreman role
  • Strong technical knowledge of civil construction methods, materials, and equipment
  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex construction plans, cost controls, scheduling, and production tracking
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills managing multiple crews and subcontractors
  • OSHA 30 certification strongly preferred
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass a driving record report
  • Willingness to travel and work at remote Alaska job sites
Offer contingent upon pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and MVR.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to work in all weather conditions and temperatures; role involves bending, lifting, driving, and extended time on active job sites.
