What You'll Do
- Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting reports for leadership, boards, lenders, and regulators.
- Lead the annual budgeting process in partnership with department leaders; provide variance analysis and long-term financial forecasting.
- Maintain compliance with utility accounting standards, GAAP, and regulatory reporting requirements; prepare required federal, state, and local filings.
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls and accounting procedures; ensure compliance with tax requirements and company policies.
- Manage annual financial audits and serve as primary liaison with external auditors.
- Oversee banking relationships, cash flow planning, liquidity monitoring, and debt service requirements.
- Support rate studies, cost-of-service analyses, and financial modeling for major projects and infrastructure investments.
- Supervise and develop a team of 5–6 accounting and finance staff, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required; CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience preparing audited financial statements and with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Utility, telecommunications, electric cooperative, or regulated industry experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP; understanding of utility accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills; able to convey financial information to non-financial audiences.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel; ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- CPA, CMA, MBA, or other professional credentials preferred.
Additional Details
Full-time, exempt position based in Wasilla, AK, reporting to the CFO with supervisory responsibility for 5–6 staff. Occasional travel may be required for training, audits, or board meetings. Extended hours may occur during audits, budget cycles, and reporting periods.
