Mat-Su Event manager (p/t)
NAMI Mat-Su Alaska is seeking a NAMIWalks Manager to lead the planning and execution of NAMIWalks in the Valley, our annual community fundraising event supporting mental health programs and awareness. This role is responsible for driving participation, fundraising, and community engagement while creating an impactful and well-organized event.
This role directs the planning, fundraising, and implementation of NAMIWalks in the Valley event, culminating on September 12, 2026 at the Iditapark in Wasilla, Alaska.

What We’re Looking For
- Experience planning events, fundraising, or community engagement
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Experience working with volunteers or committees
- Comfortable building relationships and engaging the community
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM/fundraising tools are a plus
- Required equipment include a computer with Microsoft Office, a working computer camera for Zoom meetings; a phone; reliable internet and printer/scanner
- Ability to work flexible hours
What You’ll Do
Event Planning Execution
- Manage and help plan all aspects of the walk (location, logistics, vendors, entertainment, and day-of event coordination)
- Develop and execute a detailed event timeline
- Ensure a smooth, engaging event experience for participants and volunteers
Fundraising and Participant Engagement
- Set and track fundraising and participation goals
- Work with organizations and businesses in the Valley to raise funds and awareness
- Recruit and support team captains, participants, and sponsors
- Motivate and coach participants in peer-to-peer fundraising
- Community outreach and partnerships
Volunteer and Committee Leadership
- Recruit and lead a volunteer planning committee
- Coordinate meetings, roles, and ongoing engagement
- Train and support volunteers and team leaders
