Our client is an Alaska Native-owned village corporation serving over 400 Native shareholders. 
 
This senior-level role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and acquiring new business opportunities, with a focus on civil construction, hotel operations, and land development. The position also leads the planning and development of subdivisions on existing land, including strategic analysis and coordination with key stakeholders. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Business Development Officer combines a strategic mindset with a hands-on approach to support the executive team, department leaders, and staff across the organization.
 
Your day-to-day, broadly speaking: 
Strategic Planning: The Business Development Officer develops and implements strategies aimed at increasing sales and market share, leveraging market analysis to identify potential clients and track industry trends.
 
Client Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients is a key focus, while continuously seeking new business opportunities. This includes regular communication and follow-ups to ensure client satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
 
Lead Generation: The role involves creating and executing targeted marketing initiatives to generate leads, utilizing various channels such as social media, networking events, and direct outreach to establish connections.
 
Proposal Development: The officer prepares and delivers persuasive, informative presentations and proposals to prospective clients and investors, effectively communicating the organization’s offerings and value proposition.
 
Collaboration: Working closely with management and other departments to ensure business development initiatives align with overall company goals. This also includes mentoring and providing guidance to junior team members.
 
Market Research: Conducting in-depth research on market dynamics, competitor strategies, and customer needs to inform strategic business development decisions and shape actionable plans.
 
We’re looking for: 
  • At least 4 years of experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, or a related field.
  • Strong negotiation and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal land use regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with environmental impact assessments and sustainable development practices.
