3rd Annual Albinism Awareness Walk
International Albinism Awareness Day is June 13th!
Valley Imaging will be sponsoring the 3rd Annual Albinism Walk!
WHAT IS ALBINISM??
Albinism is an inherited genetic condition that reduces the amount of melanin pigment formed in the skin, hair, and/or eyes. Many people with Albinism are legally blind because of the lack of pigmentation in the eyes. Albinism occurs in all racial and ethnic groups throughout the world. In the U.S., approximately one in 18,000 to 20,000 people have some type of albinism. In other parts of the world, the occurrence can be as high as one in 3,000. Most children with albinism are born to parents whose hair and eye color are typical for their ethnic backgrounds.
Come walk and enjoy snacks with us on June 13th at 4:30pm. The walk begins at Refuge CrossFit located at 12151 E Palmer-Wasilla Hwy, Palmer, AK.
Feel free to stop by and make donations, enjoy snacks, and/or enter to win prizes! ALL proceeds will be donated to the NOAH foundation (National Organization for Albinism & Hypopigmentation).
Please be respectful of the visually impaired and leave your dog, bikes, and scooters at home!
Help us spread awareness in the community for this amazing cause!
