Scott Janssen the” Mushin Mortician”, 57 was born and raised in Crookston, Minnesota.
He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Mortuary Science In 1985 and moved to Alaska in June of that year to work at a mortician at Evergreen Memorial Chapel. He has been a funeral Director/embalmer for the last 33 years. Scott has been a friend and sponsor of Paul Gebhardt for over 20 years and began mushing in 2007. He says “Iditarod has been his dream since 1986. He finished the Iditarod in 2011 and 2012. Scott is married to his high school sweetheart Debbie for over 38 years. They are parents of two adult daughters, Angela and Chelsea and their Godson (who Is like a son to him) Jaikob . They have 3 beautiful Grandchildren Avalyn, Liam and Charlie. Scott is a member of the National Funeral Directors Association, the ICCFA, Kiwanis and the Iditarod Finishers club. He enjoys; his family, mushing dogs, camping, skiing, hunting, fishing and riding his Harley.
We will have a 5 minute business spotlight presentation by Alpine Septic.
We will also be featuring bag lunches from the MatSu Food Bank this week for a dontation/fundraiser to support their Food 4 Kids program.
