Preserving Alaska's Cultural Organizations
Wasilla Museum is getting prepared for their Preserving Alaska’s Cultural Organizations live burn event in Wasilla in late August.
"We will be setting up a mock collections room that will be burned and then we will be training in recovery of these items.
To get the best experience possible, we need your help.
Are you getting rid of any of the following items that we could use for this event?
Deaccessioning items from your collection and need to dispose of them?
Please drop it off at the Wasilla Museum and Visitor Center to be included in the burn.
Items will ultimately be disposed after the event since they will have fire, smoke and water damage.
So NO HERITAGE ITEMS you want to keep. These items will be destroyed.
We are also looking for old metal shelving, book carts or other storage shelves.
These items will be used in the mock collections room to be burned, but also used to transport items to be recovered.
All items need to be dropped off at the Museum located at 391 N Main Street no later than Friday August 26th.
Please call me at 907-414-1997 to schedule a drop off or to let us know you will be bringing items.
Please forward to anyone you know that may be getting rid of the following items.
We will take them off your hands for free and dispose of them.
