Alaska State Fair Board of Directors Seat Application Deadline
The seven-member Board of Directors is responsible for setting policy for Alaska State Fair, Inc., a private, nonprofit, 501(c)3 corporation. Current directors include Kristy Bernier, President; Jon-Marc Petersen, Vice President; Jason Ortiz, Secretary; John Harkey, Treasurer; Stephen Brown, Director; Aryne Randall, Director; and Sheron Patrick, Director.
Current 2020 annual and lifetime (having joined before March 22, 2021) Fair members will vote to fill one open board seat who will serve a three-year term. Incumbent, Board Vice-President, Jon-Marc Petersen is up for re-election. Directors will be elected at the Fair’s annual meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 7pm.
Directors’ responsibilities are to set policies to accomplish the Fair’s mission statement: Produce a traditional State Fair which educates and entertains Fairgoers; Provide stable finances through good business practices, statewide outreach, partnerships and hosting a variety of community, cultural and business events.
The election committee is seeking individuals who can envision the Fair as a gathering place for all Alaskans by encompassing the past, present and future, and individuals who can make the full commitment of time and self-discipline it takes to set policy.

To be eligible, candidates must be Alaska residents, at least 18 years old, and be members of Alaska State Fair, Inc., either as a lifetime member or an annual member in the current year. Must not have been employed in the last 365 days by ASF, not an immediate family member of an employee at ASF or an individual sharing a domicile with an employee of the Fair within the second degree of consanguinity. The deadline to become a current 2020 member is, Monday, March 22 at 4:30 p.m.
